Portland International Airport, 2011

Beginning in April of 2011, ICON Materials started the reconstruction of the south runway of Portland International Airport.  The project is to completed in 3 phases.  The first phase involved removal and replacement of the east end of the runway and the start to the west end of the runway.  This was completed on July 28th.  Phase 2 is the reconstruction of the instersection of the south runway and runway 3-21.  During this time, the east end of the south runway will be opened.  Phase 2 is only a 30 day window, so crews will be working around the clock to finish.  Phase 3 will be finishing the west end of the runway.  The project is scheduled to be finshed by the first of October.
